Shakeaway, the world’s largest milkshake bar company (with over 50 stores worldwide in the UK, US, Middle East, and India), opens its flagship branch in U.P. Town Center, Quezon City on November 25, 2016 at 2 p.m. To make the grand opening even sweeter, the first 50 customers will receive a free milkshake.
Shakeaway claims that you could live forever and never have the same milkshake twice. There are 180 individual ingredients you can choose from to build your own bespoke milkshake handmade to order from real and fresh ingredients.
Shakes start at P190 for regular size and P250 for large and include one free flavor with additional costs for extra flavors, which are categorized as fruity, cakey, sweety, chocolatey, biscuity, and everything elsey, and assorted toppings.
If you’re the kind of person who’s overwhelmed by choice, go for the one of the world famous named shakes (regular P250, large P310) which all have two flavors and a topping. All of the named shakes undergo a vigorous taste-testing process to perfect the recipes before they’re included in the world famous menu.
The most popular named shake is Dave, which incorporates three kinds of popular chocolate: Ferrero Rocher and Kinder Bueno topped with the thinly folded milk chocolate of Cadbury’s Flake. Dave is Shakeaway Worldwide Global CEO Peter Dickson’s personal favorite; he recommends trying it hot (“It intensifies the flavors by 50 percent”).
Jose is the Philippines-exclusive shake made of local ube and sweet macapuno topped with crisp pinipig. Harry (which is named after Harry Potter) brings back childhood memories with Butter Balls and Honey Stars topped with colorful marshmallows. Mike mixes Milo with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and is topped with whipped cream that sinks down and makes the milkshake extra rich.
On the weirder side is the Wicked Wendy (frozen peas and pickled onions topped with whipped cream), described on the menu as “the world’s worst milkshake…dare you try it?” (If you’re curious about how it tastes, check out the reaction videos posted on YouTube.) A more indulgent option is the Millionaire’s Milkshake (P900) with Lindt 85% dark chocolate and roasted hazelnuts topped with whipped cream and real 23 carat edible gold flakes.
What’s fun about Shakeaway is that you can both eat and drink the milkshakes. The hand-blending process for every individual shake ensures that small pieces of the ingredients are left in the drink. There’s even a spoon on the end of the straw so you can scoop every last piece—trust us, this is something you’re going to want to do.
