Johnnie Walker, the leading blended Scotch brand, has recently launched the the Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch portfolio, a series of experimental Scotch whiskies that pushes the envelope in terms of blending new flavors, and showcases the skills of their expert blenders. The new Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Bourbon Cask & Rye Finish is the first of the Blenders’ Batch releases to hit Philippine shores.
The limited edition new blend is described as a bold experiment in flavor. Over 200 whisky samples were explored to hit upon the blend of The Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Bourbon Cask & Rye Finish. The final blend, which is rich and warming, is aged in first-fill bourbon casks and finished in former rye casks for an additional six months, and features whiskies from only five distilleries, including Dufftown and the now-closed Port Dundas.
The creativity and expertise in the whisky making process, drives the team of expert blenders at the brand’s home in Scotland to experiment with new taste experiences. The Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Bourbon Cask and Rye Finish draws inspiration from master blender Jim Beveridge’s personal journey in Kentucky in the 1990s, where he blended bourbons and ryes.
How you drink your whisky is totally a personal preference, but it is recommended that the Blenders’ Batch: Bourbon Cask and Rye Finish be enjoyed neat. This will allow you to relish the depth and subtlety of the carefully crafted Scotch and taste the unique sweetness and vanilla notes of bourbon and rye, plus the warming vanilla spiciness usually associated with Johnnie Walker Black Label.
