On October 12th, City of Dreams celebrated their yearly rockin’ October Beer Festival at the grand ballroom. It was a night of authentic German delicacies, rock music and, well, overflowing beer. City of Dreams also took this opportunity to show appreciation for their industry partners, specifically their corporate and travel accounts. Property president Geoff Andres highlighted the hotel and resort’s awards and accomplishments this year. After all of the formalities and the ceremonial beer pour, everyone was clearly eager to start partying and have a taste of what City of Dreams had in store for the festival.
Before the ceremonies even began, the beer booths had already opened for the early birds. We had the opportunity to drink the first pours from the tap from some of the best and most well-known beers in the world, like Sapporo from Japan, Heineken from the Netherlands and Weihenstephaner, which is not only the oldest brewery in Germany but also the world. Local beers were also at the venue: San Miguel Brewery brought in their classic Pale Pilsen and San Mig Light. For craft beer offerings, Pedro was there to satiate the palate.

The center of the authentic German buffet was a live carving station for Spanferkel (roasted suckling pig) and Schweinerollbraten (roasted pork belly). Other highlights were Brathendl (roasted chicken, German style), Grillhaxe (a dish you could easily confuse with crispy pata), and Fleischkäse (“meat cheese,” a type of German meatloaf). The City of Dreams food and beverage team took a full week to prepare the special Oktoberfest feast, and even guests who weren’t beer drinkers had a lot to celebrate.
Entertainment was provided by hosts Rovilson Fernandez and recent Miss World Philippines finalist Cristina Coloma, who is also Chaos Manila’s Entertainment Manager. There were also live performances by True Faith and a cover band called Part 3 and a girl group Eye Candies. On the second day of the festival, popular rock band Parokya ni Edgar performed their crowd-pleasing rock ballads followed by Gloc 9 and Eye Candies.
City of Dreams October Beer Festival was an event to remember. We can’t wait to see what they have in store for next year’s Oktoberfest.
