The World’s Biggest-Selling Spirit Brand Jinro Soju launches Jinro Light

3 minute read

“Light” seems to be on everyone’s glass nowadays, from light soda, light tonic, light brandy, and light beer. Some people prefer drinks with “light” on the label to save on calories or to enjoy longer drinking sessions because of its lower alcohol content. Joining the bandwagon, the world’s number selling spirit, HiteJinro’s Jinro soju, recently just launched a light version of their famous spirit for the consumption of the Philippine market.

The new bottle has a lighter alcohol taste but kicks with the same punch as the regular. It’s good to drink as cold shots or a good alternative for the popular mix of Soju + Yakult.

To officially launch Jinro Light to the public, HiteJinro brought the spirit of Korea’s colorful drinking culture to the streets of Poblacion last June 30, for a night of music, fun drinking games, art, and soju shots all night long.

Korean restaurant Min Sok introduced the concept of Anju, a Korean term for food consumed with alcohol, with classic soju shots of Jinro 24 and the brand new Jinro Light paired with samgyupsal (pork belly). Guests also played Soju Cap Flick, where players pass around the bottle cap using the metal strip.

The night continued at Z Hostel where people tried Somaek (soju and beer mixes) and Poktanju, also known as Soju Bomb (soju shot dropped into a beer glass). Fyre, the newest rooftop bar at the corner of P. Burgos featured mango/strawberry and Melona ice pops flavored soju slushies. New hip bar Run Rabbit Run showcased the versatility of Jinro Light through Alice in Wonderland inspired craft cocktails created for the bar crawl–Garden of Light Flowers (made with JInro Light, lemon juice, violet liqueur, egg white, butterscotch, and simple syrup) and Curious Dream (made with Jinro Light, Remy Cointreau, grapefruit bitters, lemon juice, garnished with lemon peel). The night ended at Dulo MNL where Jinro Light shots light up the rest of the night.
