Everyone loves a glass of whisky sour! It’s one of the most staple cocktails behind the bar, primarily composed of whisky, lime or lemon, and a sweetener – sugar, syrups, triple sec, etc. This cocktail recipe was first written down in the 1862 book The Bartender’s Guide by Jerry Thomas. Today, every August 25, people around the world celebrate a glass or two of this classic mix.
Here are five recipes from our cocktail library that you can make to cheers to National Whisky Sour Day:

2. Visayan Sour
This whisky sour twist uses calamansi and mango pineapple jam to balance its sweet and sour taste. It’s fun to make and even more fun to drink!

Using the rattan fruit for a classic whisky sour adds a bit of punch. The cocktail gives a creamy tart finish that is so easy to drink you might forget that it’s got alcohol in it.
5. Oscar Sour
- Recipe by Rian Asiddao
- Diageo Reserve Brand Ambassador
How about popcorn in your whisky sour? It’s deliciously sweet and creamy with caramel notes, balanced by the sourness of the lemon. The caramel popcorn on top is a yummy treat while downing this frothy drink.
