New Year Cocktail: 108 Bells

2 minute read

Ring in the new year with 108 Bells, a bubbly, slightly sweet cocktail with a kick. This cocktail is named after the Japanese custom of Joya no Kane, where temples across Japan ring their bells 108 times to welcome the new year. The number represents the 108 worldly desires that a person experiences throughout their life. By ringing the bells, it is said that you leave your old self behind and welcome your new year with a clear mind and happier resolutions.

The cocktail has the trademark sourness of lambic beer that complements the sharp fruit sweetness and earthiness of the Okinawa gin, and is the perfect drink to usher in the new decade. Here’s to an invigorating and spirited 2020!

Ingredients:

30 ml Okinawa Gin
60 ml Lindemans Faro
7.5 ml sugar syrup
7.5 ml lemon juice
2 dashes lime bitters

Directions:

Pour the Okinawa Gin and lemon juice in a mixing glass.
Add ice and stir.
Strain into a chilled coupette.
Top with Lindemans Faro.
Add lime bitters.
Garnish with lemon peel.
