Celebrate Chinese New Year 2025 with Limited-Edition Spirits and Wines

Chinese New Year is just around the corner, kicking off the Year of the Snake on January 29. With all the festivities coming up, it’s time to think about what gifts you want to bring to your gatherings or what treats you might want to enjoy for yourself. If you’re on the hunt for something special this year, there are some excellent limited-edition bottle releases to choose from, ranging from ultra-luxurious to premium spirits, wines, and beers. Keep reading to check out the coolest commemorative bottles for CNY 2025. 

1) Asahi Super Dry x Teradamokei

Japanese beer brand Asahi Super Dry is keeping the spirit of the Lunar New Year alive with its latest annual release—new design packaging in collaboration with the Japanese Model Kit art project, Teradamokei founded by Japanese architect Naoki Terada. These limited-edition designs feature a 1:100 scale Model Kit concept, a signature of Terada Mokei’s work, which celebrates the joy of creation and crafts a dynamic social scene for the festive season. You can find these limited-edition Model Kit cans in supermarkets, online, and in select restaurants throughout Asia-Pacific: Vietnam, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, Thailand, and Singapore.

2) Hennessy V.S.O.P, X.O, and Paradis

Maison Hennessy is celebrating the 2025 Chinese New Year, Year of the Snake, with a vibrant collection designed by Shuting Qiu, titled ‘Reimagination.’ This limited-edition collection features abstract snake designs and colorful prints inspired by Chinese brocade and jacquard fabrics from Qiu’s heritage. Each bottle, including V.S.O.P, X.O, and Paradis, showcases unique stories with deep cultural significance. The V.S.O.P edition is vibrant and energetic, featuring red floral motifs and abstract snake scale silhouettes that symbolize renewal. It includes four unique patterns designed by Shuting Qiu and comes in a textured gift box with an exclusive linen bag, available only in Macau. The bold X.O edition showcases rich colors and embossed snake designs, reflecting transformation. Paradis is a luxurious red masterpiece with an abstract snake motif, embodying elegance and prosperity, complemented by a leather collar that hints at spring’s awakening.

3) Skorpios 1618 Extra Añejo

Ultra-premium tequila brand Skorpios 1618, known for encasing its liquid in serpent-shaped vessels, has released the 2025 Year of the Snake edition—a red snake-shaped decanter filled with deep-rooted agaves aged for a minimum of seven to 10 years. Only 888 bottles are available, so be prepared to splurge a little if you’re eyeing this, as it will cost you at least US$588 per bottle, depending on the shop. The liquid boasts a refined taste of aged tequila with deep wood notes, made from 36-month-old Extra Añejo from single estate agaves, aged in bourbon and cognac barrels with classical music in-barrel fermentation.

4) Louis XIII Limited Edition Lunar New Year Coffret

Louis XIII, the ultra-premium cognac from Rémy Martin, crafted from up to 1,200 eaux-de-vie sourced exclusively from grapes grown in Grande Champagne—the premier cru region of Cognac, France—has unveiled an exquisite Limited Edition Lunar New Year Coffret. This limited-edition release, priced at over US$4,000 depending on the retailer, features a stunning design by renowned artist Liu Li Hong, a distinguished collaborator with the Palace Museum Cultural Innovation Institute. Liu Li Hong, a master of traditional Chinese papercutting, has utilized traditional stamping techniques to beautifully depict the 2025 zodiac animal—the Snake—and Winter Jasmine on the coffret.

5) Penfolds 2022 Bin 389 Year of the Snake Magnum

Australian winemakers Penfolds are honoring the Year of the Snake with a special edition Bin 389 Magnum, beautifully presented in a Lunar New Year-inspired gift box. This offering features the renowned Bin 389, often called ‘Baby Grange,’ first crafted in 1960 by the legendary Max Schubert. This wine helped establish Penfolds’ reputation among red wine lovers, skillfully blending the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness of Shiraz. The bottle and box are beautifully encased in a striking ruby box adorned with a gold and turquoise snake, paying homage to the diverse Asian cultures beyond China.  

6) Don Julio 1942 Year Of The Snake

Fans of Don Julio’s 1942, the popular añejo, have an exciting new addition to their collections. This special release features a unique bottle design celebrating the Chinese New Year and the Year of the Snake. The striking red vessel merges the Chinese Zodiac snake with the Aztec feathered serpent, symbolizing prosperity.
