Ahead of unveiling the full restaurant selection of the 17th edition of the Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau for 2025, scheduled for March 13 in a live ceremony at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, the guide announced its Bib Gourmand list—a lineup of restaurants and street food that provide value-for-money gourmet experiences.
The refreshed list showcases the diversity of the region’s gastronomic scene, showcasing the rich culinary heritage of both Hong Kong and Macau. This year, a total of 77 food establishments received the prestigious Bib Gourmand recognition, 66 in Hong Kong and 11 in Macau. Notably, among the 10 new entrants, nine hail from Hong Kong and one from Macau, further emphasizing the dynamic nature of the culinary landscape in the region.
Nine new Bib Gourmand establishments in Hong Kong include Art & Taste, located on Wyndham Street in Central, which opened in 2024 and serves well-crafted Taiwanese classics, including a customizable braised beef noodle soup and tasty cheese crêpes. Yuen Long’s Banana Boy delights with its crispy banana roti and innovative flavors like pork floss and mozzarella. Chiu Ka Banquet in Sheung Wan specializes in Chiuchow cuisine, featuring creamy pork tripe soup and flavorful braised goose. Heartwarming in Prince Edward focuses on black sesame delicacies, while Hung’s Delicacies in Causeway Bay, led by chef Hung, highlights Chiuchow-marinated meats and flavorful fried rice.
Juno, an Italian restaurant in Sheung Wan led by veteran Spanish executive chef Jordi Vallés Claverol, offers standout dishes, including rosemary focaccia and baked Cote d’Azur seabass. Wan Chai’s Keung Kee is known for its glutinous rice with preserved meat, complemented by cured sausages, while Lulu Baobao in Wong Chuk Hang impresses with made-to-order noodles and xiao long bao. Finally, Jordan’s Thai Pai Dong serves delicious Thai street food, acclaimed for its drunkard fried noodles and elevated Wagyu boat noodles.
In Macau, the new addition is Justindia, a 20-seater restaurant by Keralan-born chef Justin Paul, offering value-driven lunch set menus of Indian delicacies and a formal dinner experience with à la carte options and a creative 10-course tasting menu.
According to Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide, this year’s selection demonstrates Hong Kong and Macau’s unique diversity and vitality. “The Bib Gourmand dining establishments not only reflect the vibrant food culture of Hong Kong and Macau but also emphasize the diverse opportunities available for gourmets seeking exceptional culinary experiences at affordable prices,” he adds.
