Following the previous releases in The Macallan’s limited collection, the Distil Your World range, which included the Mexico, New York, and London editions, the brand has just unveiled its new addition, this time inspired by the bustling city of Hong Kong.

The Distil Your World series is an ongoing collaboration between the Speyside whisky brand and the Roca brothers, chef-owners of the Michelin-starred restaurant El Celler de Can Roca in Spain. Every bottle release draws inspiration from the brothers’ exploration of a city, seeking to encapsulate its unique essence within each bottle.
The Hong Kong edition draws inspiration from the dynamic spirit of the SAR as a vibrant metropolis capturing the city’s fusion of tradition and modernity. “This is a deeply personal whisky, inspired by my time with Joan Roca exploring Hong Kong,” states The Macallan’s lead whisky maker, Euan Kennedy. “It is big and bold. I wanted to develop the idea of structure in this whisky, reflective of the building environment rising from the sea to the green peaks behind. To create contrast within this whisky, in the same way Hong Kong is a city of contrast. A whisky with many layers, to be returned to again and again to find more stories to tell, its incredible complexity transporting you on a journey of flavour and memory,” he adds.
Bottled at 46.8% ABV, the expression is matured in select sherry-seasoned European oak hogsheads, married with American oak casks. The liquid has notes of ginger, cinnamon, spice, and oak, as well as mango and pomelo, with each flavor profile designed to correspond with specific attributes of Hong Kong, from the city’s deep-rooted culinary heritage to its street markets.
Available in 700ml bottles, The Macallan Distil Your World Hong Kong edition (USD4,750) will be available in Asia Travel Retail and the Asia-Pacific region starting in April.
