Inspired by the stunning Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar, this release is no ordinary bottle of whisky. It showcases one of Bowmore’s oldest and most exceptional expressions—a rare 54-year-old single malt that embodies the essence of Islay’s craftsmanship. The real showstopper? The exquisite handblown decanter, designed with an aesthetic nod to the sleek, aerodynamic lines of the Valkyrie, makes the bottle not just a container but a true work of art.
What’s inside this stunning vessel is just as impressive. Distilled in November 1968, this rare whisky spent 54 years maturing in a 2nd Fill European Oak Sherry Butt and a 3rd Fill American Oak Hogshead. Inspired by the Golden Ratio with 61.8% European Oak-aged spirit and 38.2% American Oak-aged spirit, the two parts are united for 15 months.
According to Bowmore’s chief blender, Dr Calum Fraser, “A Bowmore as exquisite and complex as this 54-year-old is testament to the skills of our distillery team, but also the very embodiment of what can be achieved simply by slowing down, standing still and letting things unfold as they are destined to. This rare creation truly demonstrates just how Bowmore ages exceptionally over time, with unmatched precision and clarity. As guardians of this spirit, we strive to harness the power of the past in every drop that we create – whilst constantly reimagining Bowmore for the next generation that will experience our whiskies.”
Based on the brand’s description, the liquid has aromas of sweet vanilla, butterscotch, and buttery shortbread with tropical mango, peach, orange zest, toasted oak and has rich fruity sweetness and features green apple, bergamot orange, and lime juice, alongside salted caramel, floral notes, ginger, and sweet cinnamon, leading to a hint of peat smoke on the palate.
Bottled at 44.3% ABV, the Bowmore ARC-54 is now available from select stockists worldwide. The release is limited to 130 decanters globally and priced at $80,000, so only a few will be able to get their hands on this special bottle.
