Wynn in Macau is gearing up for an unforgettable weekend for wine aficionados as it hosts the second edition of the Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards on April 11.
Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, this year’s competition has gained impressive recognition and robust support from local governments and industry organizations in China. Backed by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the awards presented by Wynn’s exclusive lifestyle brand, “Wynn Signature,” represent the largest gathering dedicated to evaluating Chinese wines against international standards. They recognize China’s top wines and outstanding winemakers while promoting Chinese wines on a global stage.

Along with Wynn Signature Best Wine of China, Wynn Signature, and Varietals and Regional Champion Trophies, this year’s edition is introducing two new award categories, the Wynn Sommelier’s Choice and Best Young Winemaker.

This year’s awards were judged by a top-notch panel featuring 27 of the world’s leading wine experts, including 10 Masters of Wine (MW), three Master Sommeliers (MS), and one seasoned pro with both MW and MS credentials. Sticking to international judging standards, the tastings for nearly 900 wine varieties from around 200 of China’s best wineries were done blind, and wines were rated using the well-known 100-point system. Medals were awarded based on a tiered scoring system: bronze for 85-89 points, silver for 90-94 points, and gold for 95-100 points.

During the awards weekend, Macau will bring together world-renowned wine experts, representatives from China’s leading wineries, industry professionals, and wine enthusiasts to taste the highest-quality wines from China. Wynn hotels will host a series of events on April 12, which includes a forum led by Professor Zhan Jichen from China Agricultural University, veteran winemakers Guo Songquan and Zhang Chunya, and representatives from China’s seven core wine production regions, covering the evolution of Chinese wines over the last five decades and the industry’s future potential. Julian Boulard MW and wine expert Yi Guotao will conduct a masterclass, exploring the unique characteristics of the Marselan varietal from various terroirs across the country.
There’s also a chance to savor wines paired with exquisite cuisine at Michelin-starred Chef Tam’s Seasons at Wynn Palace and Wing Lei at Wynn Macau.

Ahead of the ceremony, the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medal winners have already been announced, and guests can view 35 Gold Medal Wines on display at the West Esplanade of Wynn Palace until April 10.
