Zuma opened in Hong Kong in 2007 and remains one of the city’s go-to spots for Japanese dining and cocktails. This April, they launched a new cocktail menu called The Sixfold Practice of Art. The new menu celebrates six core traits of artistic expression: wisdom, fearlessness, intuition, charm, renewal, and restoration interpreted through six cocktails.

Led by Andrei Makarevich, the bar’s new cocktail menu is called The Sixfold Practice of Art, featuring six specially crafted cocktails (HKD140/drink). It also includes a collaboration with local tattoo artist, Anderson Chan whose artwork guides the menu’s design. Anderson is an artist at Kowloon’s acclaimed MoFo Tattoo, known for its imaginative tattoo artistry. The studio’s artists prioritize crafting unique, custom designs, avoiding replicas to ensure that each tattoo authentically represents the client’s individuality. Known as the ‘Dealer,’ Anderson specializes in Japanese tattoo art, often incorporating elements such as dragons, koi fish, and cherry blossoms into his work.
Drawing from traditional Japanese color theory, Anderson incorporates symbolic elements such as snakes and bold hues from Benihi red to Ayame (Japanese for “Iris”) purple to mirror the energy of each drink.

Drinks include the Sage Hito which stands for ‘wisdom’. It mixes mango sake, Mars-blended malt whisky, lemon, egg white, and Ratafia float. It’s served in a pale white color, suggesting calm and clarity.
For anyone who loves a punchy and spicy drink, the Spicy Hebi Highball is where it’s at. Inspired by ‘fearlessness’, it’s sure to get your taste buds buzzing with jalapeño-infused tequila, clarified Calpis soda, raspberry, orange liqueur, and mango.

Those who like sour-style drinks can enjoy, Kanzo Gimlet which is meant to reflect ‘intuition’. This one combines pink guava cordial, Tanqueray No. Ten gin, and passionfruit yuzu foam made with Calpis.
The Murasaki Sour shows ‘charm’. It has vodka, spicy umeshu, ube syrup, lemon juice, and egg white.

The Yuzu Peach Mule is about ‘renewal’, blendingsvodka, yuzu, peach liqueur, and ginger beer. Want to skip the booze? They also offer Ura Smash, a non-alcoholic drink that stands for ‘restoration’. Made with Lyre’s non-alcoholic gin, green apple syrup, yuzu cordial, lemon, and shiso cucumber foam, the drink is green and light, perfect for a slow sip.
