Ahead of the highly anticipated Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025 ceremony in Macau on July 15, the award-giving body announced the Art of Hospitality Award, the first in a series of special honors before the main event. Kathmandu’s speakeasy-style Barc, known for blending global techniques with local ingredients in its cocktails, is the first bar in Nepal to receive this prestigious accolade. This follows its debut at No.39 on last year’s Asia’s 50 Best Bars list, making it the first Nepalese bar to break into the rankings.

Voted on by over 300 members of Asia’s 50 Best Bars Academy, the award recognizes Barc’s exceptional hospitality and its ability to deliver a guest experience that sets a new standard for the region.

Hidden behind a secret door, Barc entered Kathmandu’s cocktail scene in 2021 and quickly made a splash with its fresh perspective on hanging out and drinking. Founded by Abhishek Tuladhar, the bar combines local culture with a modern touch, showcasing Nepalese art and unique details. Its warm hospitality, centered on genuine connection and shared stories, makes guests feel truly at home. Their cocktails highlight locally foraged ingredients and explore new flavors rooted in Nepal’s rich culinary heritage, pushing boundaries with a modern twist.

“We are truly honoured to receive the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award,” Abhishek shares. “From the beginning, our vision was to bring the flavours of Nepal through our drinks and to create a space that blends global standards with the warmth and soul of our local culture. This award is not just a recognition of our service, but a testament to that dream. Barc is deeply personal to me, and it has been a journey of passion, challenges, and belief. This moment means the world to our team, and to Nepal, a country where hospitality runs through our veins,” he adds.

Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace are set to host the tenth edition of Asia’s 50 Best Bars on July 15, 2025. Two weeks prior, the extended list of 51-100 bars will be revealed, building anticipation for the big night. For more information on Asia’s 50 Best Bars, visit worlds50bestbars.com
