Ever been to Uptown’s clubbing scene in BGC and felt like escaping the noise after a night of clubbing? Now there’s Somewhere Quiet, the new speakeasy-style spot that’s not quite as quiet as the name suggests, but it’s definitely a different scene. Sure, the music can get loud when the crowd arrives after 9pm, but it’s a much-needed break from the club-hopping chaos.
Check out the video below for a preview of Somewhere Quiet and their offerings:

Taking up the old DTM (Don’t Tell Mom) club lounge space (hidden beneath The Distillery and next to the now-closed Draft Restaurant & Brewery), Somewhere Quiet has a quirky vibe. Enter a bathroom-themed space where you’re handed bathrobes and encouraged to play Hugh Hefner while sipping cocktails. Snap pics of the tiled interiors, find the shower corner and bathtub perfect for TikTok and Instagram and just enjoy the fun, playful atmosphere.

This spot is the brainchild of some of Manila’s top drink people: Grand Cru Wines and Spirits’ owners Calvin Li, Johnssen Li, Rajesh Sadhwani, John Go, and ReCraft proprietors Lester Fuentes and Cedric Mendoza. So, expect a strong lineup of premium spirits and craft cocktails that lean into the cool and creative.

Leading the bar team is Auie Benisano, a cocktail competition star with a track record at some of Manila’s hottest spots. On the menu? Classics with a Prohibition-era vibe (PHP550) like drinks named Jake Walk, Scofflaw, and Volstead. Or Most Wanted Classics (PHP450) with a twist, from Martini, New York Sour, to Caipirinha. Plus some wild bathroom-inspired creations (PHP550)—think cocktails served in bathtubs, rubber duck garnishes, or drinks inspired by a mouthwash but in a totally good, surprising way.

Looking for something straightforward and boozy? Go for the Dry Martini with orange bitters or a nutty Negroni. A Listerine-inspired drink might scare you off—who wants to swallow what you gargle, right? But the quirky Lesterine, a mezcal-based milk punch sour, surprises with minty notes, velvety texture, and a perfectly balanced tartness. It turned out to be our favorite on the menu.

The Bathtub Rum comes in a tub topped with airy foam, blending tropical notes of guava and pomegranate. For a twist on a classic, ask for the Coco No. 5, inspired by the Bee’s Knees, made with Darjeeling Dry Gin, grapefruit notes, and a spray of rose water.

Want bubbles? The Giggle Water, a nod to Prohibition slang for hooch or Champagne, is a fizzy drink made with Macchu Pisco, Pineau des Charentes Rosé ou Rouge, Verjus, sparkling wine, and Peychaud’s bitters. Those with a sweet tooth can indulge in the silky Phoebe Snow, crafted with Bobby Scheidam’s Genever gin, Giffard Crème de Cacao, cream, and a dash of nutmeg.

Currently, the bar is still in its soft opening since they opened their doors in March, and are gearing up for a grand launch party in August, but you sure are welcome to enjoy what they have in store.
