Destileria Limtuaco, the Philippines’ oldest distillery, was celebrated at this year’s World Drinks Awards ceremony on June 4th at the Waldorf Hotel in London, where it secured multiple accolades for its diverse range of beverages.

Founded in 1852 by Bonifacio Lim Tua Co., Destileria Limtuaco is the oldest distillery in the Philippines. The company has been passed down through generations and is now led by the fifth generation, Olivia Limpe-Aw, who took over in 2004 after succeeding her father, Julius Limpe. The company is renowned for crafting spirits and liqueurs that utilize local ingredients and celebrate Filipino heritage. Filipinos are likely familiar with their brands, including the iconic White Castle Whisky and their Manille Liqueur line, which bars all over the Philippines have been using behind the bar.
Aaron Limpe-Aw, a sixth-generation member of the Limpe family and the executive vice president of Destileria Limtuaco & Co., Inc., was present at the ceremony in London to receive the awards. Intramuros Liqueur de Cacao, one of the brand’s signature products, was named Winner for World’s Best Chocolate Liqueur, praised for its rich profile of nutty and roasted cacao and notes of butter and roasted coffee. It stood out among global entries in the chocolate liqueur category.

Two other products from Destileria Limtuaco also received top honors: Manille Liqueur de Calamansi was named Country Best Fruit Liqueur – Gold, and Amadeo Coffee Liqueur earned Country Winner for Best Coffee Liqueur – Gold.
